Hi First Presbyterian Church,
It’s time for our Mid-Week Meet-Up! This Sunday begins the first of this summer’s sermon series. Each summer, we have organized a special sermon series focused on answering practical questions. This summer our series is called “Teach Us How to Pray” and will seek to address questions related to prayer - specifically, for whom and how should we pray for people?
This seven-week sermon series will address the following topics:
The Lord’s Prayer as a model (Luke 11:1-4)
How are we to pray “for all people?” (1 Timothy 2:1-7, focusing on verse 1)
Should we really pray for our governing authorities, and how? (1 Timothy 2:1-7 again)
How should we pray for the church and its mission? (Ephesians 6:18-20 and Matthew 9:35-38)
How should we pray for the sick? (James 5:13-18)
Should we really pray for our enemies and persecutors, and how? (Matthew 5:43-48)
What does it mean to pray “at all times?” (Philippians 4:4-7 and 1 Thessalonians 5:16-22)
As we have been doing during these summer sermon series, there will be a Q&A after each worship service where you will have the opportunity to discuss any thoughts or questions you have for each topic.
I hope to see you in worship this summer!
Peace,
Aaron
