mid-week meet-up: three exciting events coming up!

Hi First Presbyterian Church,

It’s time for our Mid-Week Meet-Up! I wanted to take this time to let you know about three exciting upcoming events.

The Easter Cantata - this Sunday!
A New Members Class - starting this Sunday!
NEW! An Intergenerational Weekend Retreat - this Fall!

Our choir's cantata that had to be cancelled on Palm Sunday, March 29, has been rescheduled for this Sunday, April 26, during our 10:00 am service. Our chancel choir and accompanying musicians and vocalists are looking forward to singing Alfred V. Fedak’s For Us the Living: A Requiem as part of our worship.

This Sunday, I will also be leading the first of a three-week new members class. This class meets from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm each of the three Sundays (April 26, May 3, and May 10). If you are interested in becoming a member of our congregation or just want to learn more about our church, I encourage you to attend this class. We meet in classroom 200, above the Fellowship Hall.

Finally, Paula Dugan and I will be leading an Intergenerational Spiritual Renewal Retreat from Friday, September 11, to Sunday, September 13. Mark your calendars! The retreat will be held at The Y at Watson Woods in Painted Post, NY. This retreat will be especially designed to be intergenerational, which means that it is intended for the young, the old, families, couples, and singles. The retreat will focus on spiritual growth and renewal. I will be leading workshops and times of prayer for adults, while Paula will lead a program for children and youth focused on “new beginnings” as they enter into a new school year. We will also have fun and enjoy the beautifully wooded setting at the retreat center. We will end our weekend in the woods with a worship service on Sunday morning.

We have 15 hotel rooms reserved at the retreat center, each including space for 1-4 people.  The Christian Education Committee is subsidizing the cost of the retreat, making it so that you only have to pay $300 per hotel room (for two nights). All of our meals are included. This retreat will be a wonderful and uplifting way to end the summer and enter a new school/program year. You will be able to register for the retreat soon. For now - mark your calendars! I hope you will come!

In Christ's peace,

Aaron
